Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Happy New Year, and we hope your 2025 is off to a great start! In the “school world”, once we get into the second semester, we start planning for the next school year. Despite the cold and snow, summer break will be here before we know it, and the 2025-2026 school year will start quickly.
We wanted to give you all plenty of time to plan for next school year as we will have a schedule change. In collaboration with the union, administration, and Board of Education, we will be adjusting our school calendar to have an early release every Wednesday to allow time for professional development, curriculum alignment, school improvement, and other necessary activities.
The early release will be what we have done in the past, with students starting at the normal time and dismissing an hour early. Therefore, the times will be:
Wednesday Early Release Schedule
Grant Middle School: 7:50 am – 1:20 pm
Illini Elementary 8:30 am – 1:50 pm
Thank you in advance for your flexibility with making this change. Most, if not all, of the surrounding districts in our area have an early release day and it has proven to be very beneficial for students and staff in all of the schools we talked with.
